CAST 2009 Members Exhibition

Somewhat belatedly I’ve realised that among my busiest moments of plunging through the intense MBA examination period for second semester… I somehow forgot to mention the CAST Members Exhibition running from 21 November to 20 December, 2009. Sorry, it ends on Sunday.

As a member of CAST (Contemporary Art Spaces Tasmania) I’ve got a nice example of framed black and white photography in the exhibition. Enter the main gallery, turn left and follow the wall about 20 feet – there you go… it’s a shot of the Sea Shepherd Steve Irwin taken directly after their return in early 2009 from the controversial collision with Japanese whalers in our Southern Ocean. The photograph is titled, “Waiting is not an option. A Planet without life is just a rock, ask any economist”. Its for sale as a limited edition of 10 through my art photography website Steven Clark Studio or through alternate arrangements.

This photograph was a jury picked finalist in the Poimena Art Award 2009 for mixed media works.

Ansel Adams: The Camera

As the first of three parts of Ansel Adams Photography Series, Ansel Adams: The Camera begins by discussing the idea of visualisation in relation to photography. Ansel Adams is a master of his craft; this series has sat on my backburner for some time. Book 2 in this series is The Negative and it's followed up by The Print. In them Ansel outlines his philosophy of photography rather than trying to lay down a set of rules. This first instalment is a technical book that explains the good old fashion film camera.
