MBA: 4 Exams in 6 Days
Finally I get to sit down after a hard first year of the MBA program at UTAS. This was my fourth exam in six days and the last one was probably the hardest to prepare for due to mental exhaustion.
In a quick post-mortem, my fear all semester was failing the statistics unit – nowdays called Data and Business Decision Making. The exam, on Saturday afternoon, went well and I would be surprised to get less than a credit overall and on the outside I might even scrape for a little better.
Then on Monday morning we had the Organisational Behaviour exam and its an easy enough thing to do but its still hard to judge at the level they expect for a strong mark. I would hope that I get into the High Distinction there.
Next was my favourite – International Business Management. It was like writing four blog posts in analogue and with no delete button with some deep reasoning. I’d expect an easy High Distinction there.
Finally, this afternoon, my Finance for Managers exam. Well that one depends on the way its marked and whether my calculations were correct. I know of a bunch of errors already, but a few saves. I only needed 21 out of 60 to pass the unit and a pass on the exam itself would give me a credit, but we’ll see when the scores come out.
So that’s the update… exams are over. Its funny how some people fall out of the exam process thinking about their brilliant answers and I always obssess over the things I didn’t get perfect – I guess the marks usually tell a different story. Nobody who knows me well even listens to those concerns anymore – I do the study and I do the work… that generally makes for a good student result.
Summer is upon us – videos, whiskey and relaxation. Awesome… hey did I mention I start a Spring School Unit in about four weeks? That’s the MBA for you…
Update: 30 October, 2009
So in all I’d hope to achieve two High Distinctions, a high Credit and probably a low Credit. So we’ll just have to wait until the end of November to find out. I always knew it would be a strain to do both the Statistics and Finance units in the one semester, I’d been warned.
