Abi Awarded in the HAEG Watermark

Linden’s 15 year old daughter Abi Giblin is a very talented artist, designer and photographer. A few months ago she was highly commended in the student section of the Tasman Portrait Prize and last night she received one of the two student awards from the HAEG (Huon Art Exhibition Group) Watermark Art Award Competition. To top that off, Abi sold her painting directly after the presentation for a good price (photo below of Abi with her latest art patron) – you can’t beat that red dot in an exhibition.

Needless to say Abi’s mother Linden (photo below) and I were as proud as punch and know Abi has a great future in the art / design world. She is talented, intelligent and articulate – three key aspects that significantly improve one’s opportunities in any career. So a big congratulations to Abi for the award.

Linden and I have pieces in the exhibition as well so if you’re in the Cygnet area over the next few weeks drop by and check out the Town Hall.

Ansel Adams: The Camera

As the first of three parts of Ansel Adams Photography Series, Ansel Adams: The Camera begins by discussing the idea of visualisation in relation to photography. Ansel Adams is a master of his craft; this series has sat on my backburner for some time. Book 2 in this series is The Negative and it's followed up by The Print. In them Ansel outlines his philosophy of photography rather than trying to lay down a set of rules. This first instalment is a technical book that explains the good old fashion film camera.
