Reviews on this Site are Independent

Independence and the integrity of this site are important to me.

I’ve tried half heartedly to generate money for my blogs in the past but it never really sat right with me and I dropped Google Ads very quickly after a short experiement last year. I blog and rant and rave about our industry because its what I’m interested in. And, let’s face it, just like artists paint pictures the bane of a writer is to write. And if I wasn’t writing here I’d be doing it somewhere else. I’ve had requests in the past to change articles and history has shown that I would rather pull something down than change it to suit a third party. These are my thoughts, perceptions and points of view and are shared as open comment in what I would like to think of as a transparent industry where we should be discussing these issues.

So the short answer is NO I am definately not affiliated with Amazon or any other book seller that I happen to link to from book reviews on this website. These are really just short reviews of the books I’ve been reading and which I would recommend on to others. If I read something crappy I either wouldn’t review it or I’d tell you the truth. The more likely outcome is I wouldn’t even read it through and it would die a lonely death on some horizontal surface around the house.

Again, I’ve been offered books in the past and I’m willing to read anything that looks reasonable. But I can’t guarantee I’ll agree with it or write a review of it. But if you think you’ve got a great thing to say then feel free to send yours along. If there’s one problem I have with books its keeping up with high quality relevent ones that are available in the library or worth buying up front from a bookstore.

I thought it might be prudent to put all of that to you so there wasn’t any impression that I’ve succumbed to the Amazon affiliate’s commercial funnel of kickbacks. It seems that problogging is a common excuse for just trying to make a bit of extra money. But not here, no way.

The only affiliate relationship on this site is that my blogs all have free hosting with Tashosting. We’ve had a business relationship for over four years and as a consequence these all exist in the limbo of my reseller account. I link to Tashosting freely and without request because I think they offer a great service. Take it or leave it.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, its time to go watch my favourite television show – Underbelly.

Ansel Adams: The Camera

As the first of three parts of Ansel Adams Photography Series, Ansel Adams: The Camera begins by discussing the idea of visualisation in relation to photography. Ansel Adams is a master of his craft; this series has sat on my backburner for some time. Book 2 in this series is The Negative and it's followed up by The Print. In them Ansel outlines his philosophy of photography rather than trying to lay down a set of rules. This first instalment is a technical book that explains the good old fashion film camera.
