But How Does a Manager Know?

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

This post-cum-rant has been pulled in its original form, I apologise to anyone I led here who hasn’t read this – lucky those who use our Really Simple Syndication (RSS) I guess. If I know you I might send you the text copy from my hard drive if you’re interested.

It was pulled because the negative slant was probably not conducive to the outcomes I wish to achieve in this area. Especially in relation to the education of government and its flow-on to the education of business. I will be posting some positive ideas around this information space in the near future. There are some things we can do as an industry to push this information into the view of both government and the private sector.

In short, I agree that small business don’t know what they don’t know. It does become very frustrating that managers in government positions don’t know but BELIEVE they do know. It is frustrating to see bad or even incorrect information pushed into this information space simply out of ignorance or laziness or lack of industry understanding.

This needs to be addressed in a proactive way.

Ansel Adams: The Camera

As the first of three parts of Ansel Adams Photography Series, Ansel Adams: The Camera begins by discussing the idea of visualisation in relation to photography. Ansel Adams is a master of his craft; this series has sat on my backburner for some time. Book 2 in this series is The Negative and it's followed up by The Print. In them Ansel outlines his philosophy of photography rather than trying to lay down a set of rules. This first instalment is a technical book that explains the good old fashion film camera.
